The goal of Weleda is to maintain, improve and restore the health of people.

At the service of human beings

Currently, Weleda is present in more than 50 countries on five continents. The three main venues are still where the Weleda story began: Arlesheim, near Basel, in Switzerland; Schwäbisch Gmünd, near Stuttgart, in Germany, and the French city of Huningue, in Alsace. From these three bases (and from the branches of our company scattered around the world) Weleda manufactures hundreds of natural cosmetics and thousands of pharmaceutical products, which are still produced in part using medicinal plants grown in their own fields.

The responsible relationship both with nature and with people has always been part of their activity, since Rudolf Steiner articulated his vision of a company to the full service of human beings and the world as a whole. Whether through fair trade, biodynamic cultivation or support for the development of our employees, sustainability is part of its roots.

The seven basic principles of Weleda

Weleda is a unique organization, in full economic growth, human and committed to the welfare of our planet, the environment and people.

They have assumed that role by adopting seven unalterable basic principles, binding on all those who work with them, which clearly support their way of working. They would like to share these principles that reflect who they are and why they work this way.

1. Fair and equitable treatment to its customers, partners and suppliers

Weleda demonstrates that transparency and honest communication form the basis of effective and loyal cooperation. Your business relationships around the world are based on these fundamentals. As a result, they maintain long-lasting and reliable relationships with customers, suppliers and partners.

2. Spirit of collaboration in the relations between management and workers

Weleda workers put their skills at the service of the company and are highly valued as professionals. They know the structures and operational processes and assume responsibility for their work. As a result, they can participate in the evaluation and decision-making processes that concern their field of competence. The dedication of all our employees is the source of innovation for the development of our activity.

3. Integral quality

The natural raw materials used for the production of their products are transformed by careful and differentiated processes in such a way that the active substances and ingredients can have full effects. The holistic vision of the human being composed of body, soul and spirit and the concept of the Earth as a living organism connected with the totality of the cosmos, proper to anthroposophy, lead to a greater knowledge of natural substances and the nature of their effects, thus giving rise to a wider vision of quality.

Products are created that make available to human beings a deep and great efficiency and provide them with an experience of extraordinary well-being. Its continuous development of scientific test methods further reinforces this integral conception of quality.

4. Combination of natural and spiritual sciences in research and development

For Weleda, human beings are paramount. For and through them they research and develop, together with their collaborators, therapeutic approaches and innovative and revolutionary products. These approaches and products are the result of combining the natural sciences with the spiritual sciences, understanding these as those that contemplate the non-physical qualities (those that allow us to have a psychology and an individual, personal and non-transferable biography) of the human being and of the living beings, helping them to obtain a broader understanding of the disease, health and care necessary to restore it.

5. Strict environmental protection standards

The resources of the Earth are limited and must be protected, for the good of humanity and nature. They take this responsibility very seriously and establish strict environmental protection standards. For them, sustainability means the care and conservation of natural resources.

6. Ethical business practices that create value

Since its inception, they have pursued corporate objectives derived from the foundational idea that focuses on supporting human beings in their personal development, in the maintenance, improvement and restoration of their health and their need for physical wellbeing and a lifestyle balanced.

This vision determines the business direction of Weleda and will remain the benchmark and driver of all its activities. By fixing the prices of products and services, they are not only concerned with strengthening their asset base, but also with the interests of their customers, suppliers and investors. To the extent of our possibilities, they participate in cultural initiatives that strengthen the individual.

7. Cultural diversity as a source of inspiration

The Weleda Group is present in numerous countries and markets around the world. This has given rise to a powerful cultural diversity that serves as an inspiring force.

Historically, Weleda emerged from the confluence of different business initiatives in a business group with a unified management system. The Board of Directors and the management of the Weleda Group exercise their management functions in the interest of the successful development of the entire Group. Ethical and quality standards, as well as business, market and functional policies and strategies, are mandatory for the entire Weleda Group.
